GRP enclosures are now considered the preferred option where the protection of electrical and mechanical equipment is required in indoor or outdoor environments. GRP enclosures, or GRP housing units, are an alternative to the more traditional materials such as brick, concrete and steel, and provide a more cost effective and maintenance free alternative.
Commonly used for industrial applications such as pump houses, in renewable energy projects, telemetry control stations and sprinkler control stations, they are also used for garages, general storage units or Biomass fuel storage units. With the introduction of window units, ventilation and full electrics, ticket or monitoring GRP kiosks for parks and commercial properties can be manufactured, all fully insulated and Fire Safety compliant. GRP enclosures for gas or electrical substations are provided with explosion relief roofs, if specified.
Here at Capvond Plastics, a wide range of GRP enclosures are produced to suit individual specifications and requirements. From small single door mountable enclosures, to large modular enclosures which require site delivery, off loading and erection, a complete turnkey operation. "Flat pack" enclosures are supplied for self erection or erection using our trained installation team, particularly in areas where access is restricted.
Larger enclosures can be made to comply with Building Control specifications, and compliant with Approved Document B, "Fire Safety", to The Building Regulations 2000.
The external surface of the GRP enclosure can be manufactured to provide the aesthetic appearance required to blend in with its surroundings; urban GRP enclosures, industrial GRP enclosures or rural GRP enclosures, can be produced with a finished surface to suit its environment. Any RAL or B.S. colour can be matched for external or internal finished surfaces.
Smooth or aggregated surfaces are often used on industrial GRP enclosures, whilst dry dash, render or brick surfaces are provided for urban or rural GRP enclosures. The technology used to provide different finishes is such that the general public are often unaware how many GRP enclosures are in their local area.
Capvond Plastics are conscious that the importance of manufacturing GRP enclosure products not only provides the client with the quality and specifications they require, but also a product which will not compromise planning restrictions or the surrounding environment where the GRP enclosure is to be installed. Capvond will endeavor to mimic any finished surface the client or planning regulations require.
All Capvond GRP enclosures are manufactured using approved and quality GRP raw materials, all timber used is FSC quality timber and all exterior fixtures such as vents or door fittings are stainless steel, aluminium, galvanized and GRP. All external electrical equipment is IP rated.
Full electrical fit outs can be provided, if specified, and include independent fixtures as required.
Three way locks with stainless steel padlockable handles are fitted as standard on all medium and large sized GRP enclosures, Mortice, Yale or Eurolocks are provided where specified, or simple hasp and staple locks are fitted on request.
All large GRP enclosures are fitted with fully tested and approved lifting eyes where HIAB or crane offloading is required at point of delivery. Smaller units, up to 2.4 x 2 x 1.2m can be delivered using the national pallet system.
